Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We have answers. For full details on our rules, policies, and quality standards, see our Terms & Conditions.

  • Head to the Author Sign Up page and complete the form for the event you want to enter. One form per book, per event. You can sign up for future events in advance on their separate forms. By completing the form you confirm you have read and agreed to our Terms & Conditions and FAQs.

  • No. Every submission goes through a quality review. We check your cover, blurb, page count, spice level, genre, and overall presentation. We keep each event intentionally curated and as AI free as possible — fewer books also means more visibility for everyone included. We do not provide individual rejection reasons but you are always welcome to try again in a future event.

  • We do not accept books under 100 pages, books with AI-generated covers or content, religious fiction, children's or middle grade, non-fiction*, or poetry*. We also reject submissions where the spice level or genre selected does not accurately match the book's actual content, or where the cover or blurb does not meet our presentation standards. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

*You are welcome to contact us via email about your non-fiction or poetry book. We occasionally make exceptions to not accepting them, based on event. But these are not popular genres for our audience so it is on a case by case basis.

  • Everything — based on your publicly available Amazon listing. This includes your cover, blurb, page count, spice level accuracy, genre accuracy, Amazon link, pricing, and overall presentation. If anything does not meet our standards your submission will be declined.

  • Zero tolerance. We do not accept AI-generated covers, book content, or blurbs. If you mention AI usage anywhere on your form your submission will be rejected regardless of context. If we flag your cover as potentially AI we will give you the opportunity to provide verifiable evidence — such as a designer receipt or screen recording of the cover being created. Written statements alone are not accepted. Our decision is final.

We can make mistakes & sometimes AI may slip through. But we do our best to avoid this.

  • No. Paying for a feature prioritises your place ahead of capacity limits but acceptance still depends on meeting all quality and eligibility standards. If you are rejected for a quality or rules reason your paid feature is not refunded, but will be rescheduled to another event where you can correct prior errors. Please read our full refund policy in our Terms & Conditions before purchasing.

  • Paid features are non-refundable. The only exceptions are if we cancel an event and do not reschedule within twelve months, or cannot offer a suitable alternative within that period. Rejection, rescheduling, theme changes, and technical issues on your end do not qualify. Where a refund is approved it is processed within 14 days, returned to the original PayPal account only, and issued for the net amount received after PayPal fees. Full details in our Terms & Conditions.

  • Standard entry is one book per pen name per event. The same book can be entered a maximum of six times per calendar year and you must skip at least one event between entries. Members can enter more depending on their tier — see our membership page for details.

  • Yes. You must make at least one publicly visible post on any social media platform promoting the event or your participation in it. You can use our pre-made promo assets or create your own. If you do not post, your next event application will be rejected. It is a one-event consequence and you are welcome to reapply after that.

  • Approximately one to three weeks before the event goes live. Check your spam folder if you have not heard from us. We do not communicate decisions via social media or direct message

  • Buzzfest is our monthly free and discounted ebook event. Authors make their books available for free or at 99c/99p for the duration of the event. You browse, download, and discover new favourites — all in one place. Head to our For Reader page for more information or use the named tabs on the site to find the relevant event.

  • Bee Mine is our quarterly romance-focused event. Think of it as Buzzfest's sister event — same concept, same quality standards, but dedicated entirely to romance and its subgenres including romantasy, paranormal romance, and dark romance. It runs four times a year and is a great option if romance is your primary genre and you want a more targeted audience. Sign up works exactly the same way as Buzzfest — one form per book, per event, and all the same rules and quality checks apply. The books for this event are also majority free, and we limit paid entries.

  • The majority of books in each event are aimed at being free to download. Some are 99c/99p. All prices are clearly shown on each listing before you click. We strive to offer more free books than paid where possible, but do offer paid options too at 99c / 99p.

  • Buzzfest all-genre event runs monthly and Bee Mine romance event runs quarterly. The best way to stay up to date is to follow us on social media or check the event tabs at the top of the site — each event has its own page that goes live when it opens. We also have an event calendar for each year that has the confirmed dates on there.

  • Your book must be available at either free or 99c/99p for the entire duration of the event — no other price points are accepted. You must keep your book at the stated price for the full event. If your price changes or is not correctly set when the event begins your listing will be removed. If you paid for extras this will be removed without refund.

We strongly prefer free books. They perform significantly better and are what readers come to our events for. However we understand free days are not always possible, so 99c/99p is allowed with the following limits for standard entries:

Of the maximum six entries per book per year, no more than three can be at 99c/99p. If you never offer your book for free you are limited to three events per year with that book. If you mix free and 99c you can do up to three of each.

Kindle Unlimited titles are a members-only perk. If your book is in KU you cannot enter as a standard author — you would need a membership to participate. This is because KU books earn per page read rather than downloads, meaning readers get nothing extra from downloading them during an event. Our events are built around giving readers genuinely free or discounted books to keep.

If you are a member of any tier and your book is free/discounted but also on KU, you can add KU as an add on to your listing for readers who wish to support you that way instead.
